Here are some ramblings about my experience in finishing the Blogging From A-Z challenge this year. More about the challenge over here. (The theme I had for my alternative a-z badges is beginning or spring so that's why the sun and plant/tree graphics above. You can see the badges here in this post.)
01 - I had picked three words and let the readers choose which one I will be rambling about or if I have an inkling, tell a (fictional) story. This was maybe a good idea but readers don't seem to want to choose so then I decided I can choose the word if it gets too late to post. Since I have to wait for people to choose the words, I have to write/post on the same day so that means just a few hours to write each post which is a bit nerve-wracking but still kind of fun.
02 - I made a list of blogs I was going to visit (from the master list) - a very short list because I want to make it easier for myself. I admit there are many themes I have no interest in but I did visit all the blogs on the master list (except for the adult content ones) just to check them out.
03 - Before the challenge started, I had made coffee mugs with the alphabets so I don't have to think up or make images/graphics for each post which lowers the stress (see above and below).
04 - I debated on leaving a link (to my a-z posts) whenever I leave a comment. I don't want people to think they have to visit me back but at the same time, I want to make it easier for people to visit me. So in the end, I left some links but not a lot.
05 - I did get a little lazy at commenting toward the end. I really do try to leave a comment but my attention span seemed to wane a lot. Plus my wi-fi sometimes had nervous breakdowns just for fun so sometimes I'm not sure my comments went through and I was too lazy to check.
06 - I'm very grateful to those who chose to visit and leave comments - they made the overall challenge more fun and more interactive. Without readers, it wouldn't be as fun so thank you all.
07 - Here are my A-Z April 2025 Challenge posts links:
08 - Here are some (new-to-me) blogs I had enjoyed visiting during the A-Z challenge:
• Live and Learn - Toss and Turn > link
Like me, Live and Learn had no A-Z challenge theme but I do enjoyed her takes on various topics.
• Thrift Shop Commando > link
Tami Von Zalez also had no theme. I enjoyed some throwback to things I otherwise I didn't know or had forgotten such as my ebay account which is gathering dust.
• Pattern Recognition > link
Anne M. Bray drew Fluevog shoes which is a brand of shoes I've never wore but she created a lot of stylish, creative shoes which I would wear if only I actually had style.
• Butterfly on a Broomstick > link
Linze Brandon talked about cheating the muse, about creativity or the lack of. I enjoyed her inputs, advices, and I might had been a bit opinionated about them in my comments.
• Just call me Froggi > link
Froggi also had no themes but I enjoyed her musing about everything. I wish I can be that cool and relax when I get to that age (over 60).
• Temenos of the Blessing Light > link
Deborah Weber's theme for the A-Z challenge is a selection of unusual words where she ponders their meanings, histories and usage. I might not have read all the posts but the ones I did read are quite educating and worth pondering.
• Ya Gotta Laugh About It > link
Rhondi St.Onge Peacock had no theme either but she posted some very interesting things and a few sad ones.
• Story Treasury > link
Sonia Lal wrote about fictional characters, some I know, most I don't because I haven't read the books those characters are in.
• Silvia Writes > link
Silvia Villalobos wrote about running and writing and I thought those two seems to go together. Her posts are like really good pep talks that writers or amateur writers need and maybe want.
Did you do the A-Z challenge and if so, did you enjoy it?
Well done! -Christine cmlk79.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteChristine: Thank you. And thank you for coming by. Have a lovely day.
DeleteI didn't participate,
ReplyDeleteI watched it from here and your texts were very beautiful!
Overall,
an interesting suggestion and reason to write🧡🌷!!
Katerina: Thank you for coming by and reading.
DeleteHave a lovely day.
Well done once again.
ReplyDeleteI also choose not to visit the adult contents ones.
I LOVE your banner, it both changs and stays the same - you should make a "Winner" badge using that full-grown tree!
And that owl mug ... I want one!
DeleteCharlotte: I do like the idea of the grown tree/plant on a badge but I'll probably not do it.
DeleteThere are coffee mugs with similar owl design like mine. I do like owl mugs as they seem peaceful for some reason.
Thank you for coming by. Have a lovely day.
I thoroughly enjoyed your posts and was so glad you continued the challenge. What I didn't tell you (and am now) is how much I liked your mugs.
ReplyDeleteElephant's Child: I also like my mugs creations. I think I have more fun making the mugs than writing the posts.
DeleteThank you for coming by. Have a lovely day.
What a good analysis. I should do that sometime, but I'm still working on completing the challenge. It was nice to get to know you during the A-Z.
ReplyDeleteLive and Learn: I hope you post a reflection. And it was nice to get to know you too.
DeleteThank you for coming by. Have a lovely day.
Thank you for the shoutout thrift shop commando
ReplyDeleteTami on Zalez: I'm happy to share you blog.
DeleteThank you for coming by. Have a lovely day.
Jamie (jannghi.blogspot.com): I liked how you approached the A to Z, letting readers pick a word for each letter.
ReplyDeleteJamie: I also like the idea, it gets readers to participate without doing too much.
DeleteThank you for coming by. Have a lovely day.
You had a very fun and interesting approach and theme. I liked the voting aspect, although I did recognize it would cramp your time in preparing the next day's post. And I just loved all your very creative mug illustrations!
ReplyDeleteDebra: With the voting, it did means less time to write the posts but it's another challenge that I think helps me to think quicker. I'm glad you like my mug illustrations. I had fun doing those.
DeleteThank you for coming by. Have a lovely day.
Those mugs are lovely, especially the flying one. Sorry I missed your challenge while on hiatus, but I'm planning on going back and reading your short fiction at least!
ReplyDeleteRoberta: I enjoyed making those mug art. As for missing the challenge, no big deal, just read a few posts is fine with me.
DeleteThank you for coming by. Have a lovely day.
I enjoyed your posts, Lissa, and it was a delight seeing your letter mugs. I wondered how difficult incorporating a pick-my-next-word would be, but I can also see how it adds to the fun and writing challenge.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the kind words about my blog.
Deborah Weber: I enjoyed the extra challenge or having readers pick the word but I think it's not for everyone.
DeleteThank you for coming by. Have a lovely day.
I loved your mugs and posts. Thanks so much for the shout-out!!
ReplyDeleteDonna B. McNicol: I enjoyed your posts as well.
DeleteThank you for coming by. Have a lovely day.
Your A to Z is definitely on my TBR list - so brave to write on the day. I too struggle over whether to put my link in comments and sometimes do, sometimes not...
ReplyDeleteFrewin55: I don't if it's brave since I did the challenge a few times exactly the same way by writing and posting on the same day.
DeleteIt's just to add link when you sort of seem to asking people to visit.
Thank you for coming by. Have a lovely day.
I liked the way you made your own A to Z graphics. I noticed that at some point we went from being "survivors" of the challenge to being "winners" I like being a survivor better and thought about making a graphic for that. Maybe if I think about it for the coming year I'll do one.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on yours.
Kristin: I haven't noticed the change from survivor to winner but now that you've mentioned it, I'm thinking if I am to make badges for next time, I'll use survivor instead of winner - I think survivor is better.
DeleteThank you for coming by. Have a lovely day.
Always leave your link during the A-Z: it's much easier to visit back that way, and if someone doesn't want to visit back, that's their choice (though this is a blog hop, so they actually should). Congrats on finishing the challenge!
ReplyDeleteRonel visiting for Reflections for A to Z Blogging Challenge 2025
Ronal Janse van Vuuren: I'll try to leave a link for next time.
DeleteThank you for coming by. Have a lovely day.
I like your blog. It has a very nice theme.
