I am mostly impulsive when I'm angry so you might say anger fuels my impulses. It's a bit hard for me not overthink when making a decision so maybe it's why I didn't do as much daring things as I would like. Once in a while, when I'm a mood that isn't fueled by anger, I actually do impulsive things though they are only mildly daring because I'm not adventurous and I'm a scaredy cat and sometimes I feel like I'm not quite equip to do a lot of things that people find easy. If one day if I spontaneously decide I must go sky diving, I might just do it even though I have a fear of heights.
How about you, are you impulsive? Do you need anything to fuel your impulses?
For tomorrow, the letter J, the choices are (1) just, (2) junk, (3) java. Choose which word I might ramble about or tell a story.

I think we're all more impulsive when emotions are fueling our anger instead of logic.
ReplyDeleteI meant to say actions instead of anger in my comment above.
DeleteLive and Learn: Yes, it's true. Anger is a great motivator.

I am a boring, conservative, cautious person. Impulsive acts rarely happen.
ReplyDeleteI choose junk for tomorrow. There are things I would like to junk - and there is too much of it here.
Elephant's Child: I'm like you, impulsive acts rarely happen.
DeleteOh there are so many junk I should be throwing away but somehow never able to make myself do it.

Good word -Christine cmlk79.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteChristine: Yes, impulse is a good word though I keep spelling it wrong.

I'm not very impulsive. My first reaction is to say no. After thinking it over, I may change my mind. I pick jave.
ReplyDeleteKristin: I'm the same. I usually say no to just about anything that seems impulsive but I also may change my mind later.

I don't tend to be impulsive. I vote for junk tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteDebra: I also trend not to be impulsive.

Jamie (jannghi.blogspot.com): I don't tend to act on impulse.
ReplyDeleteFor tomorrow, I pick "java." A lot of possible meanings for this one.
Jamie: Like you, I don't trend to act on impulse either.

I tend to overthink things more than being impulsive; I think its because I worry if I do something impulsive I'll regret it later.
ReplyDelete-Quinley
Quinley: Regret is one great reason not to be impulsive but sometimes we only regret after we did the deed.

I can be impulsive. Age has helped a little but it comes and goes. Overthinking, yes, definitely. Same as you - that's the thing with brains going a mile a minute.
ReplyDeleteSilvia: I don't know what about getting older but somehow some things doesn't seem as scary to do as before. Too much overthinking, I think but who can help it?

I am so NOT impulsive - that's my husband, so we balance each other. I do a lot of research and what-ifs before making a decision. But once that decision is made, I want to do whatever it is NOW.

Donna B. McNicol: Research? Yes, I believe I also sometimes do research before making a decision. I wish I have something to balance me out.
