Lackadaisical

The choices for today are: (1) lackadaisical, (2) literature, (3) loophole. The chosen word is lackadaisical.

Sometimes I can be lackadaisical and it can go on for days or weeks. I don't want to say I don't have the will to do things but some days, it is like that. But strangely, I get things done when it is absolutely necessary. I guess I'm used to finishing tasks and was never lazy doing them. I have always thought when a person gets older, they would be more diligent but it seems I am less so. The older I get, the more lazy I get and I'm better at letting things go as well. I'm sure nobody is working their ass off every minute of the day so I don't feel  too bad about being lazy and I don't think anyone should.

For tomorrow, the letter M, the choices are (1) mute, (2) Monday, (3) mundane. Choose which word I might ramble about or tell a story.

  1. I think everyone finds it hard to be motivated all the time. It's the deadlines that spur most of us.

  2. I agree -- everyone needs to cut themselves some slack! By the way, I'm loving all your cup and mug illustrations for these posts. Tomorrow, I vote for "mute."

  3. I remember my mother growing older and letting more things slide around the house. Growing up, you could eat off her floors. By age 60, the house wasn't "dirty" but it was nothing close to the level of her 20s. Now that I'm 77, I'm the same way. I dust when the sun shows me I need to, I have a robot vacuum, and I don't feel bad not cleaning something daily.

    1. Donna B. McNicol: I see nothing wrong with not dusting often or letting some things slip. There are other things that are probably better use of our time.

  5. Jamie (jannghi.blogspot.com): Echoing with Debra on cutting oneself some slack. And on the mug illustrations. I vote "mundane" for Tuesday.

  6. I'm happy to reframe it not as lazy but conserving energy.

  7. I like Deborah Weber's reframe. I find it difficult to cut myself any slack though.
    I also vote for mundane.
