I don't write letters a lot but I do like snail mail - it's nice to read or write a letter on paper. I usually end a letter with sincerely or something tame. I guess if I ever write a letter to a love one such as a boyfriend or husband, I might use X's and O's but I doubt it. Even though I like the idea of X's and O's, I find it seems rather intimate and I doubt I would express such things on paper. If I can't mean something, I can't write it.
Are you a letter writer? Do you use X's and O's in your letter writing?
For tomorrow, the letter Y, the choices are (1) yawn, (2) yatter, (3) yeah. Choose which word I might ramble about or tell a story.

I only use XOXO's with lovers. For tomorrow, I vote for "yatter."
ReplyDeleteDebra: I suppose xoxo isn't just for lovers but I think it should.

I used to do paper letters when I was younger and I still love the idea, but arthritis makes it hard to write by hand legibly. I'd probably reserve XOXOX for Sweetman, though. @samanthabwriter from

Samantha Bryant: It's a shame you can't write because of your arthritis but you can get other people to write for you. Sweetman - I'm guessing that's spouse or partner, it's nice to have somebody.

Nice
ReplyDeleteChristine: Which are you referring to? It's a lazy x post so no need to elaborate.
DeleteThank you as always. Have a lovely day.
I've used X O on cards mostly - to grandkids, kids, and hubby.

Donna: It's good to have grandkids and kids and a hubby.

I like yawn for tomorrow - though I am sure that your post won't be one.
ReplyDeleteI don't really use XOXO. I probably should. And I do like snail mail.
Elephant's Child: Snail mail are lovely.

Hi, Lissa! Kudos to you for tackling the A-Z. I really enjoy sending letters and cards via snail mail, and I enjoy receiving them even more. And I'm very liberal with XOXOs. I think how you feel about XOXOs is rooted in your personality. Enjoy your day.
ReplyDeleteFundy Blue: I agreed, some of us just don't have xoxo's in us, I don't.
DeleteThe a-z challenge is always a challenge but I like doing it.
Thank you for coming by. Have a lovely day.
I'm definitely a snail mail sender of letters, cards, postcards, zines - visiting mailboxes across the world is a great delight for me. I sign a lot of things love, and mean it. But signing xoxo does feel intimate to me, and saved for lovers. I vote for "yatter."
ReplyDeleteDeborah Weber: Visiting mailboxes across the world sounds fun.

I only use x and o if I'm writing xylophone or box....oxymoron...or sometimes separate them into different words. No, I don't just hit someone with an X or O. But if I did, I'd put it on a note in one of my kids' lunchboxes.
ReplyDeleteI forgot to not be an"ox"ymous...
DeleteDonna Smith: Same here, x's and o's are for words.
DeleteI did get a few Anonymous comments and had no idea who wrote them. I guess it must be you.
Thank you for coming by. Have a lovely day.
I only write a few Christmas cards these days, though I used to be a prolific letter writer in my youth. I'm not sure I'd use XOXO anyway.
ReplyDeleteI like the word "yatter".
Roberta: It really takes a special certain someone that make you want to use xoxo in a letter.
