Umbrella

The choices for today are: (1) undo, (2) umbrella, (3) unbiased. The chosen word is umbrella.

I used to love photographing the rain during rainy days and this led to searching for umbrellas especially yellow ones as they were rare. I've only actually taken less than five photos of yellow umbrellas in 10+ years and none of them were good as I always seemed to late to capture it and the person carrying the umbrella was gone before I can take another shot. I still look for yellow umbrellas now and then.  I don't want to say I have an obsession with umbrellas but I have them in my artworks and yes I do own a yellow umbrella but it's too tiny to use during the rain.
Below I thought I share one of my recent redo artwork. I'm still unsatisfied  with some of the colors. I had called it Flatiron (after the building in the middle of the piece) but decided today this piece should be called raining sunshine.

Do you look for umbrellas in the rain?

For tomorrow, the letter V, the choices are (1) vicarious, (2) vexation, (3) vacation. Choose which word I might ramble about or tell a story.

  1. I feel like umbrellas are more of a city thing. I live in a small town and spend a fair amount of time in the countryside and we mostly just have rainjackets with hoods. I'm charmed by these yellow umbrellas though. @samanthabwriter from

    1. Samantha Bryant: I supposed it's true because here, I rarely see anyone with raincoats unless they are directing traffic. Certainly, I see a lot of black umbrellas as if no one wants to stand out.

Thank you for coming by. Have a lovely day.

  2. "Raining sunshine" -- I just love the contradictory poetic whimsy of that phrase! For tomorrow. I vote for "vicarious."

    1. Debra: We do occasionally get rain when it's bright and sunny outside. I wonder if that counts as raining sunshine?

  4. LOVE your artwork.
I don't recall seeing a yellow umbrella. Next rainy day (soon please) I will look out for them.
    I like vexation for tomorrow.

    1. Elephant's Child: I guess people don't like to stand out. When I search to buy a yellow umbrella, it's a hard find.

  5. Love the artwork. Says a lot about the weather we've been having lately. Weird! I pick vexation. 😏

    1. Linze Brandon: I had enjoyed creating this piece which is a redo.

It seems it's harder to count on the weather being correct for the season, like mother nature isn't quite sure what to do.

  6. There is something beautiful about a bright yellow umbrella on a stormy day. I don't recall ever seeing one in person but photos of the always capture my attention. Your art is wonderful!

  8. So pretty! When I was a working professional, there was always a small umbrella in my briefcase. Now I just make sure I have a rain jacket with hood available.

    1. Donna B. McNicol: I had never actually wore a rain jacket or a raincoat which is pretty normal around here I guess. I usually carry around a small umbrella when I thought it would rain.

  9. I like looking at umbrellas (and a yellow one would be like you say, raining sunshine), but never use one, or go near users. I do not like the sneaky way the umbrellas always send a shower of water down somewhere unexpected.
I once planned a collection of Haiku to be called Blue Umbrella.
Vacation would be my choice for tomorrow, but I see I'm the minority here.

    1. Charlotte: Yes, I've experienced people showering me with rain from their umbrellas- it's not always easy to avoid when it's crowded.

I don't suppose your haiku collection are about umrbellas?

  10. Raining Sunshine is wonderful! I'm not sure I've ever seen a yellow umbrella, but I like to look for floral ones. I imagine trying to take rainy day photos might be more than a little tricky. Sometimes I think it would lovely to live in a sunny country where using waxed paper parasols might be the preferred method of shade production.

    1. Deborah Weber: Taking photos during the rain is trickly because you have to keep your camera dry and also when it gets windy, you have to be espcially careful then.

I could never live in a sunny country all the time but rain can be a bit of hassle.

Thank you for coming by. Have a lovely day.
