I used to eat those ramen noodles, those in packets where you buy them by the box full. I don't know if they are ramen noodles as there are so many types but I remember the packaging is either red or orange. It's easy to prepare the noodles because all you have to do is heat up a pot of water, throw the noodles square (which I break in half) in along with an egg or two or some leftover meat or vegetables and when it's about done, you put in the packet of sauces though I always throw out the oil packet and then in a few minutes, it's ready to eat. It's what college students liked to eat, at least, I did. I was and still am a pretty bad cook so easy food like prepackaged noodles makes for a quick meal.
What kind of food did you like to eat as a student?
For tomorrow, the letter O, the choices are (1) observer, (2) order, (3) ocean. Choose which word I might ramble about or tell a story.

My sons ate a lot of Ramen noodles when they were in college. Every once in a while, I have them.
ReplyDeleteLive and Learn: I like to have them too every once in a while.

Noodles, rarely eat them but I do like the egg noodle ones.
ReplyDeleteI never was the starving student as I earned my degree in my late 50s. Attending online college now as an art major.
I would like to read your ocean story.
Tami Von Zalez: Egg noodles are good. It's good not to be a starving student. I hope you're enjoying college.

You have reminded me it is a while since I have eaten noodles. I choose order for tomorrow - and am loving your take on the A-Z.
ReplyDeleteElephant's Child: Some food you just stop eating but then are reminded of it - I'm that way with a lot of food.

I lived at home and went to a local college. While on
ReplyDeletecampus I ate alt of oranges.
Sometimes a steak plate with burger, gravy, potatoes ,
Green beans for 65 cents. It was the 1960s.
Kristin: 65 cents? It does sound cheap now but in those days it's probably not.

Jamie (jannghi.blogspot.com):
ReplyDeleteI like noodles.
For tomorrow, I pick ocean.
Jamie: Me too. Thank you for coming by. Have a lovely day.
DeleteNoodles are a great comfort food - I don't think prepackaged noodles were around when I was studying - I lived in hostels and they were catered.
ReplyDeleteFor tomorrow I suggest ocean.
Visiting from A to Z in Australia where it is already tomorrow https://anneyoungau.wordpress.com/
Anne Young: Catered - that sounds nice. You must had good meals there.

I was a cash-starved university student long before ramen noodles hit the grocery store scene in Canada. My go-to cheap meals at home were Kraft Dinner or grilled cheese sandwiches. And at end of term, when even those were too expensive . . . ketchup sandwiches. Tomorrow I vote for "observer."
ReplyDeleteDebra: I like grilled cheese sandwiches. Ketchup sandwiches on the other hand doesn't sound good but I suppose you didn't have a choice.

I still keep cup-a-soup (mostly chicken) on hand, ramen with a bit of 'maybe' chicken, a couple of veggies, and some seasoning. It's a great last minute supper when I don't feel like cooking.

Donna: I think I did eat some noodles in a cup- can't remember the exact name, but those cups you just fill with boiling water, wait a few minutes and then eat. But they are probably not the same as your cup-a-soup.
