If you have a blog and you keep putting content into it, are you a blogger? I would say yes to this but then it might not be true. There was someone who was an author but he had a blog but he insisted he was not a blogger. He even had comments turned off. So is he a blogger?
I guess blogger is just a title, much like author or actor. And it's no big deal but I think it's a big deal for those who blog. I wouldn't call myself a blogger but I might do so since there is no other word for someone who slacks at blogging but still blogs.
If you have a blog, do you consider yourself a blogger?

Today, July 17, is the 3rd anniversary of this blog you're reading. I don't really do much celebrating of any kind but I like to make a note of this phenomenon since I have a bad habit of moving to new urls. Blogging is not my life but it's part of my life so I'll probably continue doing it for a long while. Let's hope I stay put here and not move to a new url. Happy 3rd anniversary, dear blog.
If you have a blog and post content on it (whether open for comments or not), you're a blogger. That hoity-toity snob of an author is a blogger too, although they clearly think admitting so is "beneath" them.
ReplyDeleteHappy 3rd Blogoversary!
Debra: You are so right about that author as that was the impression I got from his return comment but maybe he's one of those authors who uses his blog to promote rather than to actually blog? Who knows.
DeleteThank you for coming by my blog. Have a lovely day.
I suspect the author only blogs for publicity purposes. He is still a blogger in my eyes, just a half hearted and not very good one.
ReplyDeleteHappy blogoversary to you.
Elephant's Child: I think most authors blog but not always for publicity but also to connect with their fans, maybe.
DeleteThank you for coming by. Have a lovely day.
No, I'm not a blogger. I'm a person, who blogs.
ReplyDeletePS: Gratz on your 3rd Blogoversary
DeleteCharlotte: That sounds good - "I'm a person, who blogs." It makes perfect sense because we are essentially people who blog.
DeleteThank you for coming by my blog. Have a lovely day.
Yes! -Christine cmkk79.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteChristine: Hello blogger! Thank you for coming by. Have a lovely day.
DeleteCongratulations on the anniversary.
ReplyDeleteYes, I think they are all bloggers!!
Katerina: Thank you. I hope to keep blogging here.
DeleteEven if we don't use the title blogger, we're all bloggers.
Thank you for coming by my blog. Have a lovely day.
If you have a blog that you post on, then you're a blogger. Happy 3 Years! I've enjoyed reading your posts on this blog. :D
ReplyDeleteLark: I agreed with you. But perhaps some people don't like word blogger.
DeleteThank you for coming by my blog. Have a lovely day.
Happy 3 years! Like everyone else said, if you have a blog, then you're a blogger, though in the case of the author, I suppose I can understand why they wouldn't consider themselves a blogger if they're just using it for marketing purposes and updates about their works, which might not be as regular as what most people think of a blogger. But honestly, one doesn't need to post daily, weekly or monthly to be considered a blogger.
ReplyDeleteSophia: I agreed with you, you don't have to post daily, weekly or monthly to be a blogger. It's why I think bloggers can just take breaks whenever they like.
DeleteI don't come across author blogs much but most of the time, they barely post anything recent but I guess blogging is kind of a promotion tool if you're someone wanting to promote something.
Thank you for coming by my blog. Have a lovely day.
I began my first blog in 2003 and my current blog in 2005. Yes I consider myself a blogger and love this place for meeting friends and for saving precious memories. Your comment on my blog is greatly appreciated.
ReplyDeleteGranny Annie: You started blogging earlier than me so you're more of a pro than me. I do try to comment on blogs when possible but I've been lazy in this but at least I got around to your blog.
DeleteThank you for coming by my blog. Have a lovely day.
I've been blogging since 2011. I added a German blog a year later for those friends who don't speak English. I write a post on both most days of the week, but at least two or three times. If I'm not a blogger, what am I???
ReplyDeleteBut I also think that someone who only writes a post from time to time is a blogger. Let's not be so picky.
Marianne: I had tried having two blogs but I find it to be too much work. It's very good of you to have a german blog for your german friends.
DeleteThank you for coming by my blog. Have a lovely day.
Thanks, Lissa. The second blog is mainly translations from the English blog, and some books that have not been translated into English. So, I only have book reviews there which makes it a little less work.
